Driving School vs Independent Instructor: Which Is Better?

What each one is

A driving school is an MTO-approved course provider. Only a school can deliver the 40-hour Beginner Driver Education course, and only a BDE certificate shortens your G1 wait from 12 to 8 months and earns the insurance discount. Schools employ or contract instructors and assign you one.

An independent instructor holds the same MTO driving instructor licence, and in Toronto a municipal instructor licence too, but works for themselves. You book hours directly, choose the person, and pay per lesson.
