Where the centre is and how to get there
The Mississauga DriveTest Centre is at 255 Longside Drive, in the industrial area south of Derry Road and east of Hurontario Street in the city's north end. It is the only DriveTest centre inside Mississauga, so it is busy; book early and arrive 30 minutes before your appointment. Parking is free in the lot outside.
By car, Highway 410 and Highway 401 are minutes away. MiWay buses on Derry Road and Hurontario stop within walking distance. Because the centre is surrounded by warehouses, expect trucks on the streets around it from the moment you leave the lot.
What the test covers at Mississauga
The G2 road test at Mississauga is a city driving test of roughly 20 minutes. You will be scored on starting, stopping and turning; intersections of several types including left turns across traffic; at least one lane change with a visible shoulder check; parallel parking and a three-point turn; speed control through 40, 50 and 60 km/h zones; and general observation throughout. There is no highway portion on the G2.
The full G road test repeats the city elements and adds a highway section on Highway 410, with Highway 401 and 407 close by: merging, holding a steady speed with a two-second gap, one or more lane changes, and exiting. What the roads around Mississauga DriveTest are like
- Longside Drive and the industrial streets around it are wide, lightly signed and full of transport trucks. Examiners watch how you handle a truck turning wide across your lane and whether you keep a sensible following distance.
- Derry Road and Hurontario Street are fast arterials with 60 km/h limits and multi-lane intersections. Left turns from a dedicated turn lane on an advance green, then again on a solid green with oncoming traffic, are standard here.
- Kennedy Road and Courtneypark Drive add mid-speed roads with lane changes and plaza entrances.
- Residential streets to the east of Kennedy Road and north of Derry are used for parallel parking, three-point turns and school-zone speed checks.
For the G test, Highway 410 is the usual highway section, reached from Derry Road. The 401 and 407 are also nearby, so practise merging on more than one ramp.
Where people lose marks at Mississauga
- Following trucks too closely. Two seconds is the minimum; behind a transport truck give more, and never sit in its blind spot beside the trailer.
- Advance green left turns. Turning on the flashing green is fine; continuing to turn after it has ended without yielding to oncoming traffic is a right-of-way fault.
- Speed on Derry Road. The road is built for 80 and posted at 60. Drifting up with the flow is the most common speed fault at this centre.
- Lane position on wide industrial streets. With no painted centre line in places, drivers wander. Hold a consistent position a car-width from the curb.
- 410 merge on the G test. Long ramps here make it easier than in Toronto, but the mistake is the mirror-only lane change. Shoulder check every time.
Test-day plan for Mississauga
- Documents: your physical licence card (G1 for a G2 test, G2 for a G test), booking confirmation, glasses if required, and the car's ownership and insurance. The full list is in our road test checklist.
- Warm-up drive: 30 to 60 minutes on the roads described above, right before your slot.
- Arrive 30 minutes early at 255 Longside Drive, Mississauga, L5W 1L8, near Hurontario Street and Derry Road.
- During the test: narrate it in your head. Mirror, signal, shoulder, go. Full stops, steady speed, and commit to safe gaps.
